July Group:
Write For Wellness— Community Drop In

The words we call up from inner depths, our reflections and musings, unearth self-discoveries. Writing, though an individual act, allows us to grow alongside each other. Write for Wellness is an online community space to join week after week or whenever you please—a gathering centered on generating and sharing creative writing while promoting mental wellness.

Our hour together will include an opening mindfulness based grounding exercise, free writes to get pens moving and bud inspiration, thoughtful writing prompts and opportunities to read what emerged for strength-based, encouraging feedback.

The writing branches of poetry, personal essay, letters and short fiction will be explored. If you’re looking for a low-cost, dynamic group that will build your writing confidence, produce new work and yield the benefits of routine expressive writing, join us around the virtual table!

Almost anyone is a good fit for this group. If you’ve ever been curious about dabbling in writing or are seasoned in it, attending is a gentle opportunity to engage in the craft. It’s also a great setting to meet new people and share part of yourself with them through what you create, should you feel comfortable. With the flexible schedule and affordable price, the drop-in is aimed at being accessible to any adult.

If you’d like to join, you’re welcome to simply drop in virtually. Please have a pen and journal ready. If you have questions, email holly@quillcounsel.com or call at 360-670-0333.

The recommended contribution is $10. If you are facing financial hardship, you are welcome to attend regardless of what you can offer.

Please prepay if possible using this link. You can pay anytime before group begins. The link will also be posted just before we start in our group chat.

We will miss our time writing in the Chimacum Valley, but in our effort to limit in-person gatherings, we have gone virtual!

Example Prompts

Pick an object in nature that you're drawn toward. Imagine this object witnessing you in return. From its perspective, write a poem about what it sees.
Begin a letter to someone who is often on your mind but whom you are not in touch with. Tell them what's been alive in you, yet has not yet been shared.
Start a story in the form of a fable. Think about your younger self as the audience. Reflect on what lessons you might have appreciated learning.
